The “Young Greek Photographers” exhibition since 1987, has been promoting young Greek photographic artists’ creativity, thus providing an annual overview. Every year, the “Young Greek Photographers” showcases the work by artists, between 18 to 35 years, who may well emerge as some of the finest of their generation in Greece. Over its history, this exhibition has been considered as the main platform in Greece for the presentation of young practitioners working in photography. The fact that a significant number of well known and established Greek photographers of today have been first shown at the YGP exhibition, demonstrates the importance of this initiative. In times of uncertainty, young photographers searching for ways to surmount the obstacles of every new beginning and test their abilities, through the unique process of reaching artistic maturity. This year the work of 11 photographers, were chosen from over 600 submissions, will be presented in the framework of the Athens Photo Festival 2012.
