The ‘Urban Pulp’ project is my attempt to describe the urban and suburban landscape of my hometown, Larissa. My photographs derive from the study of incongruous, banal and ordinary themes, which often remain unseen. Searching for some common characteristics in these thematically diverse images, the spectator can easily identify features that draw upon a certain photographic method. However, looking beyond the obvious absence of people or the soft light in each frame, I suggest that these images have something more in common. They are visions of negligence and despondency which often set the tone on how people perceive and experience an urban place of the Greek provinces.
