The exhibition includes photographs he took in the period 1942-1944. In 1944, as
an offi cial photographer of the EAM (the Greek National Liberation Front), Spyros
Meletzis organised his third journey into the mountains of Evrytania and Thessaly.
The heroic forms of the guerrillas – the model of the warrior hero, as a symbol of
majesty and power – was expressed ideally by the photographer, who in many
shots enriched this idea with elements of exalting rhetoric.
This exhibition was presented for the fi rst time in January 2007 at MuVIM (Museu
Valencià de la il lustració I de la Modernitat), in Valencia, Spain.
