‘’An autobiography of Miss Wish’’ is a collaborative work that documents with raw and painful honesty, the story of a young woman fleeing sexual violence and her struggle to survive, find emotional and physical safety, to assert herself as an artist and narrator, and craft a life while living in a state of flashbacks, trauma and addiction. Photographed over twenty-five years, in London and New York City, the story is told through multiple narrative elements including the subject’s vast personal archive of art work and writings which were safeguarded by the photographer who assumed the role of friend and advocate. The resulting book weaves together images, drawings, medical reports, diaries, and the personal communications between author and protagonist. ‘An autobiography of Miss Wish’ is also a tale about two lives intertwined and the transformative power of collaborative documentary.
