These photographs date back from my fi rst encounter with the greek sun. I was
then discovering in Greece islands fully and totally given to the light and to her
double: shadow. These naked and burning places,with their lively outlines and
burnt out surfaces, evoke in me the ancient geometries of Euclydes and of Thales.
This is indeed where they were born, in this geometric country where the sun
plays at maths with the shadow. I realise today that what i wanted to do back then
was, very simply, to make the theorems of light visible on the walls and the ground
