
Marathon due to its location, rich history and natural beauty, has lost its identity as a rural area and has gradually turned into a rapidly developing tourist and financial center.
In recent years the development of the region has been stopped, mainly due to the economic crisis. As a result the signs of unregulated building activity were lost in the vegetation that covers them. These constructions stand timeless, as monuments of a past civilization, recalling the human need for a clear and organized structure against the chaotic forms of the nature, two opposing forces which fighting for dominance.
In this photographic project I attempt to find the sites where this dialogue between urbanization and landscape acquires a particular interest, both aesthetically and semantically.
