“Life Science” offers an artistic expression that brings together observations on science, research methodology, and aesthetics. By forcing artifacts of biological tissue into a relatively pleasant, intricately constructed scenarios, Eran Gilat creates a visual narrative that explores issues of materialism, erotica, and mortality. “Life Science” reflects Dr. Gilat’s contemplations – in his dual capacity of scientist and photographer – on the complicated and intriguing category of “Animal reminder” in the visual arts, addressed through the viewer’s exposure to various biological tissues and specimens commonly encountered in life-science research.
