In this opalescent work where portraits of the artist’s family are strangely hidden by a black thermic substance, the spectator is embarked on a new sensual and physical connection to photography. At first, images are dark they look like they have nothing to show. Then, they gradually withdraw into themselves.  

Charlotte Mano chose to give us the possibility to lift the veil on a intimacy that she finds difficult to show by herself: her family. She voluntarily blinds them to illustrate her relationship with them. They look like ghosts, anonymous and silent. The family circle is instinctively the one you think you know best but in fact the artist came to realized that she didn’t know them at all. Each and everyone has their shadow part that Charlotte is offering to the viewer by touching or lighting these magical thermic portraits.
