The intimate relationship of photography to the plastic arts over the last two decades, has increased rather than decreased the interest in using the medium in fromtally recording aspects of everyday and inner life with an almost classificatory way, but also its ability to be a clear fragment of the flowing reality. This is manifested in the conceptual concerns of Aris Georgiou works from the MMCA’s collection belonging to distinct unities like, Arboretum (1995-2006), The Blue Τelephone Βook (2002), The Bounds of Louvre (1996-2010) and A Possible Self Portrait (2010). In these unities, Georgiou deals with issues such as the relationship between private and public, the emergence of memory substrates through the surrounding environment, the interrupted dialogue of the official art with the public, the rational fragmentation of the unity of nature, and its marking with abstract traces.
